Living in Orange County California is a great place to be. If any parent has a child from 6 to high school or even any sports fans in the family, the Newport Sports Museum is a wowing experience. It has every sports memorabilia collection imaginable, from the last home run ball Babe Ruth hit to President Regan’s Golf Clubs and even a football signed by John Elway. I can go on forever with all the amazing things they have.
“The mission of the Newport Sports Museum is to use its collection of sports memorabilia as a vehicle to motivate children, those succeeding and struggling alike, to be productive, confident and successful adults. With the active involvement of over 100 well-known athletes and sports professionals, Newport Sports Museum facilitates programs designed specifically to teach children self confidence, discipline, courage, teamwork and dedication.” newportsportsmuseum.com
This mission statement is inspiring and knowing they are for our children.
For those who want a little activity they have a basketball court, screen TV’s to watch the games and a small putting green. They book events from charity to birthday parties. What is also spectacular are the professional athletes who come and give talks to the children. I bring my 2-year old son in there all the time. When you visit, you must say hello to Mike, the Events and Programs Coordinator. He is great with the children, welcoming and very knowledgeable about the Museum’s collections.
I highly suggest to take your little and big sports fans to the museum, the whole family will be impressed, just like me and my family. We keep going back and always see new items added to the enormous collection. If you are in the Newport Beach area, right by Fashion Island, check it out its free admission. Enjoy your time there!
